For .a very long time I have wondered how to "level up" my blogging, and I have finally done it! If you've read any of the posts on this blog, you would know that I am terrified of change; so I was terrified of creating (and paying for) my own website. It was a decision I never really thought I would make. I am so happy ... and horrified. I have no idea where this journey will lead me, but please come along for the ride. Change is difficult ,,,and painful...and risky,,, But it’s time to try something new.

I thought of skipping this month's blog post. October has been such an emotional month for my family and I, and I wasn't sure how I would manage to sift through all the heartache and tears to produce anything worth reading.    So for the first time in a long time I've written two blog posts this month. It's the October Double Feature. Please read the other post also and listen to the upcoming podcast episode which will feature discussions on both. 

October has been a month of great loss. 

"Education is the key to success" - this is drilled into our brains as soon as we start school. We know we have to work hard to achieve any kind of success...and education is the way there. But is it, really? Do we need all this schooling, or is it just one of the biggest scams that have transcended generations?

Do we have to give up on our dreams in order to make a living? Do we have to sacrifice passion for profit?

I'm a millennial, and apart from that I believe I am a forward-thinking individual. I embrace change, I like to see change and I accept change ... but...

I did say I would keep topics like religion off the blog, but after a very interesting conversation I really wanted to make a post about some of the messages I got from this movie regarding society's acceptance of difference; really challenging global issues like overpopulation; and the negatives of organized religion.

The closer I get to 30, the more I spiral. There are so many questions. So many things I need to accomplish and plans really need to be set in stone by 30, right? Because that just seems like the "turn of the decade" where things need to be in alignment; but as the "finish line" comes into view ...what happens? Do you look to the left and right to see where everybody else is and compare your speed to theirs? Do you keep going full speed ahead? Do you stop, because you can't go anymore?

Self-care is one of those terms that seem to be the "hot topic" lately; a term that we sometimes throw around loosely. However, let's explore what the term really means and why it's so important that we have a self-made, self-care routine .

Thus far, I've had a good run. You know? I can't say I can complain much about anything at this point, but...

If there's one thing working in the NGO (non-government organization) world has taught me, it's empathy.

To use the world "glow" in 2018 may sound outdated, old fashioned and simply archaic...but let me explain why GLOWING UP is even more important in 2018.

I have worked in HIV prevention, treatment, care and support for a number of years. Through this experience I realised how compounding issues and intersecting vulnerabilities can inadvertently disadvantage people.

Organization is always a buzz word when it comes to setting resolutions. Everyone wants to be organized, or somehow more organized. But how do we achieve any kind of organization ?

Definitely rambled quite a bit in this podcast entry, but I really wanted to get it out on time (so prior planning suffered a bit). However, I also spoke a bit more about how this series has been helping to me to challenge myself.

When people speak about luck it always seems like an abstract concept, but we're going to see how luck can manifest into real success.
