How was the Funeral?

I went to a funeral recently - my 2nd cousin died suddenly 2 weeks ago and was buried on June 26th - and when I spoke to one of my friends the same evening he asked me "how was the funeral" ... I don't recall anyone asking me this question before and I have been to more funerals than the number of years I've been on this Earth (which is quite a few). I didn't know how to respond, because I mean                        a funeral is just a funeral

The Beef-Bacon-Cheese Patty from hell

I don't usually blog about food, but this is a special case.... So recently a friend and I decided to try this bacon patty we heard about, I must admit I was more eager to try it. I  like pork... a lot ... so when I heard of a Pork Patty  I was very excited about this.  We went to the patty place, and asked about the pork patty. We were told it can only be ADDED to a patty, so it'd be a beef patty with bacon or a cheese patty with bacon. I could hear the cholesterol festering, but I decided to try it anyway, my friend went another route having a full house patty (beef, cheese, lettuce, tomato) with bacon and I bought a beef-bacon-cheese patty for another friend we would visit that day.

An Ode To Friendship

I haven't written in a while, partly because I was basking in "end of school" laziness, and partly because I was having too much fun watching the very first season of the Simpsons...(you really should look at it to see how far they're coming from)... ANYWAY... I am an emotional person, as everyone should know by now, and although I am coming from a long line of strained, failed and failing friendships I am thankful for every single one.

Don't Look Back

I have decided to do this entire post in BOLD... because I'm a bad maw-fucka... LOL... ok Maybe not, I just felt like it.  The title of this blog post came from a line of Adele's song "Take it All". I am listening to it now. However, Adele was on some lovey dovey behaviour with this song, but this post isn't about love...(in a perfect world everything would be about love, wouldn't it...but this is Earth)  This semester has been very challenging.. VERY VERY challenging. For the first time in my life I went without sleep for 36 hours. It was also a very trying time for my sanity, my eating pattern, my friendships, my whole life basically.  And when I thought it wouldn't stop, when I thought it wouldn't be over, when I thought the end wasn't in sight... I realized 3 years passed sooner than I thought it would have and if 3 years can fly by then 3 months should be nothing.

Hungry and other "H" words...

If I had a $1000 bill for every time I heard this phrase this week I could buy a Blackberry Torch (I just said that to make it sound like a lot ... LOL ... it's really about 4 or 5 times). Anyway, what do you think these other "H" words could be? I am sure you know which ONE a person is referring to when they use this phrase or is it just me, because that was the first and ONLY word that comes to my head. Somehow I feel like I should be embarrassed about this and work on my vocabulary :(. (Well, happy also comes to mind) I have decided that I am going to be a person of action this year so I went looking for "H" words. Do you even know what ' Haematopodidae ' means? It's the scientific name for oystercatchers: a group of birds which do as their name suggests.

COOL like mi wash mi face with the cake soap...

I didn't intend to blog about this, but some of my followers (on twitter) urged me to and I'm tired of hearing about / reading all that people have to say and sitting on my opinion... So, here goes Vybz Kartel (Adidja Palmer) came to the University of the West Indies on the 10th of March after an invitation from Carolyn Cooper, lecturer of the Reggae Poetry course offered by the cultural studies department. From it was published in the paper that Kartel would be coming to UWI 'hate mail' in all forms began surfacing. Persons were tweeting how could UWI invite such a person to speak and what has the university become. Then came the BBM statuses and broadcast messages bashing even Carolyn Cooper for inviting him. But, whatever! People will say whatever and do whatever, especially when they have not read and understood the context. Carolyn Cooper, as I stated, is the lecturer of the reggae poetry course and she invited Kartel to speak to her class ( that is the REGGAE...

So I am in the mood to keep up F*CK*RY

LOL! I hate when people do that ... replace the vowels in the expletive with asterisks, but it might have been in poor taste to put that in the title, rest assured that (or prepare yourself) I won't be removing any more vowels... Although I have shit to be doing I strayed and happened upon (I love the internet)a celebrity website (yes, thousands exist!) but I think this one is dedicated to black celebrities: www.theybf.com DISCLAIMER: The following pics are from this website, the comments however are my own.
