What is intrinsically different about how Gays are treated now, and how Blacks were treated during slavery (after slavery and even now)? Think about it... Religion to make them conform / to pacify them; Beatings/ killings to scare them into obedience; Legislation nullifying their human rights. Being Gay (in certain parts of the world) is probably the worst thing that could ever happen to you. So too was being Black back then (and perhaps even now). No rights... No freedoms...No speech...No life... No existence Surely, you may state that "Gays" wield a lot of power these days, but let's look at how many countries have legalized homosexuality [meaning: homosexuals are free to marry]. Investigations show that only 13 countries have legislation reflecting this;

I love romantic dinners, who doesn't ? But some restaurants try so hard to spoil a special time! This weekend was my birthday weekend and for the first time ever I had no idea what I wanted to do, oh that old age... So I pretty much did the only thing I would have ended up doing anyway on a Friday and allowed my boyfriend to plan whatever he wanted for the Saturday... [Yeah I really wasn't into the celebratory planning this year]. So of course he said we'd go to dinner. I was okay with that, with both our schedules we haven't had dinner together, much less dinner together ALONE for quite some time.

Doesn't that title seem like an oxymoron? When I joined Facebook, after the Hi5 wave, it was solely for social purposes and at that time that meant talking to friends, uploading pictures of yourself or your friends when you hung out at the movies or other random places. In our limited use of this social media website, we didn't think of how much Facebook and other websites of similar nature would change the occupational landscape.

"Doan put your sweety there... dem will tief it" she said, and I remember it like it was yesterday. It's been almost two decades that she said these words to me and perhaps 7 years since she passed away peacefully at the Kingston Public Hospital. She embodied strength...grace...and at times she personified happiness. Always greeted you with a smile, despite her numerous challenges, her failing health and her hair falling out in clumps. Struggling to make it up the hill to work after enduring painful hours of chemotherapy the night before.
