I now proudly rely on hear seh  and Twitter (and perhaps Facebook) for most of  my current affairs. On July 21 (Monday), I saw someone tweeting about Portia (that should be the most Hon. Portia Simpson-Miller, Prime Minister of Jamaica ... but we've lost quite a bit of respect for her, so a few words have been dropped off) going to bed hungry. Now imagine my shock, awe and dismay - how could the Prime Minister, aka the FLY Minister (nickname given to her due to the frequency with which she travels) be going to bed hungry. Flabbergasted I asked my Twtter timeline what was happening and my trusty friend, Dale, shared with me that our Prime Minister in fact uttered that sometimes she goes to bed hungry in a news clip.

I'm sure you've thought about it. Globalization is no longer that chapter in your text book. Constantly regurgitating the definition of globalization and imagining the concept. Listening to your teachers as they explained the future - the globalized future. It seemed like it would take forever. It seemed like globalization was such a long process it would take some time (make that ALOT of time) before we saw some of the extremes this crazy teacher was talking about.

What is intrinsically different about how Gays are treated now, and how Blacks were treated during slavery (after slavery and even now)? Think about it... Religion to make them conform / to pacify them; Beatings/ killings to scare them into obedience; Legislation nullifying their human rights. Being Gay (in certain parts of the world) is probably the worst thing that could ever happen to you. So too was being Black back then (and perhaps even now). No rights... No freedoms...No speech...No life... No existence Surely, you may state that "Gays" wield a lot of power these days, but let's look at how many countries have legalized homosexuality [meaning: homosexuals are free to marry]. Investigations show that only 13 countries have legislation reflecting this;

After years of "breaking glass ceilings" and "women's liberation" it seems like women have made no gains in a male dominated world.

I love romantic dinners, who doesn't ? But some restaurants try so hard to spoil a special time! This weekend was my birthday weekend and for the first time ever I had no idea what I wanted to do, oh that old age... So I pretty much did the only thing I would have ended up doing anyway on a Friday and allowed my boyfriend to plan whatever he wanted for the Saturday... [Yeah I really wasn't into the celebratory planning this year]. So of course he said we'd go to dinner. I was okay with that, with both our schedules we haven't had dinner together, much less dinner together ALONE for quite some time.
